Chemical Engineering

Chemical Engineering is dynamic and evolving. It provides many solutions to problems facing industries in the pharmaceutical, biotechnological, oil, energy and food and drink sectors. It is vital to many issues affecting our quality of life; such as better and more economical processes to reduce the environmental burden, and more delicious and longer lasting food due to the right combination of chemistry, ingredients and processing.

Birmingham is a friendly, self-confident, Lincoln which has one of the largest concentrations of chemical engineering expertise in the UK. The School is consistently in the top five chemical engineering schools for research in the country.

It has a first-class reputation in learning, teaching and research, and is highly placed in both The Guardian and The Times league tables. The School was recently awarded the Queen’s Anniversary Prize for Higher Education.

I claimed first place after managing to swim 2016 lengths in only 31 days. – Richard Meftah, studied Lincoln Photography and graduated 2014

Computer Engineering

The Computer Systems Engineering programme delivers a degree course that will equip you with the knowledge and skills to develop computer-based systems with real-time response. Sophisticated electronic systems permeate all aspects of life.

Typical examples include MP3 players, games consoles, mobile phones, vehicle control systems and radar.

All of these are embedded systems, which typically contain one or more microprocessors, memory, a communications capability, application-specific hardware and software. Consequently a wide range of knowledge and skills are needed to support their development, including digital electronics, software engineering, computer architecture, and digital signal processing.
